Drive to Luotuo Bo Mountain, and start hiking. Along the way, you can obtain the panorama of Shangri-La County, see wild alpine flowers, pass by alpine pastures and visit an original Tibetan house, where you can have a brief rest, taste some Tibetan snacks and chat with the unsophisticated host about the local way of living.

Keep hiking along Shuoduogang River, and reach the 15th-Century Dabao Temple (Ren’an Temple), the "Shrine of Five Buddha", but actually small and humble, with truly tranquil settings. Lunch will be served at a local Tibetan family.

Then drive to visit Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, in a grand scale and of great importance in Tibetan Buddhism, thus known as the “lesser Potala Palace” in Yunnan. Appreciate its Tibetan castle style architecture and the preserved Buddhist cultural and artistic relics.

Enjoy relaxing time in the old town of Shangri-La, named Dukezong or Moon Light City. It was vital to the Ancient Tea-horse road for caravans travelled further to Tibet and Southeast Asian countries. Idle about and find the world’s largest prayer wheel on the top of Guishan Park.

    Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

Drive to Deqin and visit several of Shangrila’s premier scenic attraction and cultural villages en route.

Soak in the alpine grassland scenery of Napahai Nature Reserve, which is the largest pasture in northwest Yunnan, where flocks of horses and cows are grazing on the prairie in summer, while immigrant birds live freely here in autumn and winter.

Then visit Nixi Village where you can see the traditional Chinese black pottery techniques have been handed down for over 2000 years. And stop by Jinsha River Gorge to overlook Jinsha River, the steep gorge and sublime alpine scenery.

Arrive Benzilan Village beside Jinsha River, once a bustling trading post on ancient Tea-horse Route with glorious past. View the sublime Big Bend of Jinsha River. Lunch is served at a local restaurant in Benzilan.

Continue the way, and visit East Bamboo Temple (Dong Zhulin Temple) housing a wealth of valuable Tibetan Buddhist treasures. And view Baimang Snow Mountain (Baima Snow Mountain), a nature reserve of alpine coniferous forests and Yunnan snub-nosed monkey.

Watch the sun sets over Meili Snow Mountain (Kawakarpo) - the golden rays of sun light up the earth.

If weather permits, witness the gorgeous sunrise of Meili Snow Mountain from the viewing platform of Feilaisi - the snowy peaks break through the seas of clouds and the fiery red sun shines warm.

Drive to Mingyong Village, and switch a shuttle bus to the Mingyong Glacier of Meili Snow Mountain. It is the lowest altitude glacier in the lower latitudes of the earth, and the biggest and longest glacier in Yunnan, stretching between 2600m and 6740m above sea level. Visit an old temple called Taizi Temple at the root of the glacier to worship the God of Taizi. Taizi is another name of Meili Snow Mountain, meaning prince.

Visit Feilaisi Temple, facing to facing with Kawakarpo.

    Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

There is still chance to watch the magic Meili Snow Mountain sunrise. Drive on twisting mountain roads to Xidang Village, pass by Lancang River Grand Canyon (Meili Grand Canyon) and see Lancang River, the upper reach of Mekong, flowing through the deep valley. Xidang Village (at 2234m) is one of the small, remote Tibetan villages in Shangri-La, and vital for travelers to hike Yubeng.

Start hiking – one of the only two ways to get to Yubeng Village. The other way is riding a mule. Hike up slopes for about 8km and down slopes for 2km, pass through Nazongla Pass (at 3750m), and finally reach the isolated idyllic world of Lower Yubeng Village (at 3050m) located at the foot of Kawakarpo. Yubeng is regarded as the epitome of Shangri-La.

Hike from the Sacred Waterfall to the Upper Yubeng Village. Along the way, visit the natural marvel of Five Trees Sharing the Same Root, the Filial Piety Table, Stone of a Sealed Book, Yubeng Lakang (or named Lotus Buddhist Cave, a Buddhist temple), the 13th karmapa’s stone foot print. And also get to know the custom of Tibetan polyandry system.
