    Board your international flight and fly over mountains, rivers and even ocean, getting to Beijing – one of the most prestigious ancient capitals in the world. Initially built 3000 years ago, Beijing is now an energetic modern city, but with numerous historical sites speckled throughout the city.

    On arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, be met and welcomed by your guide and privately transferred to your downtown accommodation. Spend the remainder of the first day of your China tour resting, relaxing or exploring this city independently. Your guide is glad to give you suggestions on nearby places to visit and restaurants with excellent foods.

    If you prefer, like a local Beijinger, start the day with a morning Tai Chi lesson at the park of Temple of Heaven. A classic school of Chinese Kung Fu, Tai Chi is good for the health, mentally and spiritually. It will be a very special experience to follow a master to practice Tai Chi in front of Temple of Heaven - the sacred site where the Chinese kings worship the gods. Admire the beautiful majestic architecture and learn about is religious significance.

    Wander Panjiayuan Market, known as an “open-air museum” and packed with a wide spectrum of antiques, handiwork, second-hand goods, ornaments, etc.

    This afternoon walk across the big Tiananmen Square that connects with China’s political and culture center, to enter Forbidden City (Palace Museum). Once the imperial palace during Ming and Qing Dynasty for nearly 400 years, Forbidden City is a real treasure house. Here you witness world’s largest and best preserved ancient wooden structure complex and discover numerous precious cultural treasures. If you like, walk up for minutes to the top of Jingshan Hill for a full picture of Forbidden City.

    For the lunch today, you will taste some authentic Beijing dishes. And for dinner, you may try Beijing Roasted Duck (optional).

    An old Chinese saying goes that, “one who fails to reach the Great Wall is not a hero”. Today we arrange you a relatively quiet, non-tourist and more authentic Great Wall – Mutianyu Section. Thanks to the cableway, you can reach the top in minutes. Hike around, through the historical beacon towers and view the walls on the distant mountains. Imagine how this great structure was built by merely hands and learn why it was built.

    Transfer back to the downtown and hop on a vintage rickshaw to explore hutong alleyways spreading over the old town of Beijing. The hutongs are considered a unique cultural landscape of Beijing. If you like, step into a traditional quadrangle courtyard for an interesting cultural lesson to learn Chinese calligraphy or paper-cutting. This is highly recommended if you have kids traveling with you.

    As the temporary imperial palace for the Qing Dynasty royal family to cool off in summer, Summer Palace is favorably located on the Wanshou Hill and beside Kunming Lake. In essence it is a large garden with sophisticated cultural landscape. We arrange you a relaxing boat cruise on Kunming Lake, so that you can have a panorama of Summer Palace and view the distant Yuquan Hill and Western Hills.

    Leave Beijing and catch a high speed train to Xian. Xian was once the center of Imperial China, and is where the awe-inspiring Terracotta Warriors and Horses are located.

    The burial site of Terracotta Army was excavated in 1970s, but actually has been existed for more than 2300 years. It is an archaeological wonder to study China’s pre-history and master-hand ceramic technology, moreover, it is one of the most legendary tombs in the world. Imagine that how wonderful meeting thousands of faces of Terracotta warriors and horses.

    Then enjoy the pleasure of biking on Xian’s ancient city wall built in 1370 - very meticulously preserved and as long as 13.74m (you don’t have to bike it through, but only part of it). It encloses the old part of Xian and connects with the ever-changing modern world. Bike to view its mighty ancient gates, rostrum, pavilions and seemingly-endless brick walls.

    Have a walking tour of Muslim Quarter, part of the local Muslim community of Xian, but actually a bustling food center full of restaurants, stalls and authentic local foods. Witness various fascinating gastronomy scenes and perhaps try some street snacks.

    A historical site on the Silk Road, Big Wild Goose Pagoda is among the oldest and most famous pagodas in China. Step back in 652, Master Xuanzang traveled along the Silk Road all the way to ancient India and brought back to Chang’an (ancient Xian) many Buddhist classics and Buddha statues. To preserve these Buddhist treasures, Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built. It blends perfectly original Buddhist and traditional Chinese architectural style.

    Enjoy an interesting culinary experience – make dumplings. After being invited to a local family, the gracious host will teach you the way to make dumpling step by step. Join the locals for a homemade lunch, including the dumpling made by yourself. It is also a good chance you can know and experience the Chinese family life.

    Leave Xian and board the flight to Shanghai, the last stop of your cultural China tour.

    Shanghai is the most popular destination in China, mainly because of its mixed culture. Here the skyscraper sprawling over the city, yet the centuries year-old traditions can still be experienced. Start the tour with a visit to Shanghai Museum, to witness some ancient culture and art collections. It is said that half of the country’s most valuable relics are preserved at Shanghai Museum.Then discover a traditional garden – the 16th-century Yu Garden – a beautiful gem in the downtown Shanghai. Want to know a rich man’s life in ancient China? You may have a rough idea when visiting its exquisitely designed chambers, pavilions, corridors, rockeries, roofs and traditional theatrical stage. Get out of the garden, then you come to a colorful bazaar and market – Yuyuan Market in the Town God Temple area. It is now better known as Shanghai’s most famous food street, with hundreds of local and exotic foods.

    Shanghai is also famous for its colonial architectures on the Bund, where you can know about its colonial history for about 100 years. The 52 colonial buildings are of different styles, and were the financial and foreign trade institutions of old Shanghai. Right on the opposite of the Bund, on another side of Huangpu River, stands Lujiazui Financial District where some of world’s most renowned skyscrapers are located. Ascend Shanghai Tower, on so far world’s highest observation deck, view futuristic Shanghai skyline.
